If you know me then you know I’m a huge animal lover. If you see me on the side of the road picking up a stray or rescuing a turtle from the road, that’s me, so, don’t mind me that’s just what I do. Pets are an important part of our family and shopping for them should be a great experience and fun for all. Coming up with the top pet stores in the Tennessee Valley was not an easy task because there are so many to choose from! To make it easier, I have sectioned them off in two categories with reptiles being first.

For those who are wondering, the animal pictures below are our pets; the gecko is Fred, the cat is Ms. Kitty and our dog is Cookie..

Top Reptile Pet Stores:

#1 Animal Trax

This may seem strange to have a reptile store at the top of my list, but I just felt Animal Trax was a one of a kind store and unique enough for everyone to check out. If your young ones aren't too squeamish, they will absolutely enjoy it. They are located in the older part of Madison, right next to the railroad tracks. Not only do they carry some of the most interesting exotic reptiles, but they also carry a long range of reptile supplies and food. They offer great prices and are extremely helpful with informing you on how to care for your reptiles. We have been shopping here for years and it is our favorite pet store for reptiles, whether it is for supplies or just looking.

#2 Pet Supplies Plus

At number 2 for reptile supplies, Pet Supplies Plus which is locally owned in Madison has a fantastic selection for reptiles and carries everything they may need. They also offer live food and reptiles such as: Anoles, turtles/tortoises, Bearded Dragons, snakes, Chameleons and Hermit Crabs.

General Pet Stores:

I believe in giving our pets natural and healthy food, so I feed my fur babies holistic and natural products. Our fur babies are part of the family, and I have shopped and researched throughout the city and have come up with my top pet supply stores for your fur babies in Rocket City. I recommend trying out these pet stores and seeing which one is your favorite.

#1 EarthWise Pet

Located in Madison Alabama, EarthWise Pet store is my #1 top favorite pet store in the Huntsville area. They are locally owned and operated and opened their doors on June 8th 2019! I’m so very grateful to have them in our community. They are a one stop shop and offer both natural pet food supplies and pet grooming. My big baby loves their freeze dried and raw frozen food, plus all their yummy gourmet treats. I don’t know of a treat she doesn’t like from this store. They have an amazing groomer who is the best at caring for your dog. They also have a self-wash station with everything you need. I personally enjoy the smaller pet stores compared to the large chains because it’s not so over whelming trying to shop. The owners of this store have fundraisers for the local Huntsville Animal Services and are always giving back to the community which makes them even more dear to my heart. As far as selection goes, they have everything I’m looking for and more. Their selection of natural pet supplies is amazing, as the local owners hand pick each item that will be offered in their store, and you won’t find that in those big chain stores. They’re also very friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to answer any questions. The owner who is always there is a nutritional specialist which is really helpful. EarthWise Pet partners with the local rescue groups and no-kill shelters in finding the perfect homes for lost and stray pets. They also offer pet supplies for your small pets such as; bunnies and gerbils. When I shopped at EarthWise Pet store the last time, I noticed they had a few kittens that they were being adopted out (I wanted to take them all home of course). As you see EarthWise Pet is my absolute favorite pet store in the Huntsville area, and I highly recommend everyone to check them out and see for yourself. #1 Pets Love and Happiness

‘Pets Love and Happiness’ has come in at #2 on my list just under EarthWise Pet. You and your fur baby will feel at home here. Not only are they a natural holistic boutique for your cats and dogs but they also support our local animal rescues. You’ll find unique pet supplies, holistic pet food, toys, gifts, and the highest quality products too. Not only are their prices very competitive but “it’s also a boutique for pets and people.” I just love Pets Love and Happiness and cannot say enough about them!

#3 Pet Supplies Plus

Pet Supplies Plus in Madison comes in at number 3. They have a large reptile selection and small pets to choose from along with a great assortment for your furry family members. They offer a rewards program that can save you quite a bit of money. If you’re in need of a groomer, you’re in luck as they have a good grooming service. For those pets that need just a quick wash, we love their dog washing station. It is clean and easy to use, especially for your young puppies. For those who are Trash Panda fans, you are in luck as they carry a fantastic selection for your fur babies!

#4 Hollywood Feed

Hollywood Feed is really tied with #3, so I couldn’t decide on which place really; so I have them at number 4 on my top list for pet supplies. They too are geared towards natural and holistic products. I love that their treats are made in the USA. They have two stores in Huntsville and one location in Madison, so having them in various locations is really convenient. They have a great supply of natural pet food, snacks, accessories, bedding and just about everything accept for the kitchen sink. They donate over 100,000 pounds of dog food and other supplies every year to their rescue group partners, which just makes them even more highly sought after in my opinion. My big girl loves to shop here and pick up free snacks on the way out. Around the holiday season, stock up on Hollywood Feed huge selection of seasonal gifts which is a great deal for your pets.

#5 For Paws In Five Points

For Paws in Five Points is a quaint pet store with reasonable prices and provides a great selection including accessories for all the holistic items you may need. They are always friendly here with consistent friendly service and very knowledgeable. This locally owned pet store has a great variety of healthy, holistic and wholesome foods, as well as fun gear for you and your pets. They also provide a self-washing room for your fur baby with all the supplies you need. You must check this pet store out; they are one of my absolute favorites!

#6 PetSmart

Pet Smart is the Walmart of pet stores. The Tennessee Valley has a few of them throughout our area. They have an enormous selection of pet products. If you’re looking for a pet, they have those too. They carry pet supplies for just about all your furry, reptile, aquatic and feathered babies. Pet Smart also provides grooming, obedience training, and pet lodging services. They also have a vet tech on hand and supports adoptions as well. If your dog needs interaction with other pups, they even offer a doggy day camp. Because my big baby is a farm girl who has the ultimate life of “spoiledness,” if this is even a word? She has tons of interaction with others and has never experienced the doggy day camp.

#7 Pet Depot

Coming in as #7 on my top Pet Store in the Tennessee Valley is Pet Depot. They have a good selection of pet supplies and offer a frequent buyer program that saves you money. If saving money is the most important to you, this program is probably for you. Pet Depot also has a cat litter re-fill station so you can save the plastics! They don’t carry much in live pets, but do carry a few small types such as mice and gerbils. They have a groomer at their different locations and offer deliver services in certain areas, so no need to travel if you don’t need to!

#8 Petco

Petco has a few locations in the valley. They have a great selection of pet supplies and accessories. From small pets, supplies, competitive prices, grooming salon, to their friendly service, I’ve always had a good experience at Petco.

#9 C.T. Garvin

C.T. Garvin is located in Huntsville and has a great selection of bulk pet supplies, but they are not your typical suppliers as they also offer supplies for your horses, cats, dogs, sheep, goats, birds, including chicken feed and accessories. They don’t have a huge supplies of natural pet food for cats and dogs but they do offer good named brands pet food at an affordable price. They also sell bedding, toys, leashes, and snacks for your pets. Their prices are very reasonable, especially for farm animals. We have been a customer of theirs for years and have always found their sales employee very friendly and knowledgeable. I would have ranked C.T. Garvin higher on my list, but because they’re a little drive from my home and we no longer have our farm pets. They’re an excellent pet store/garden center and highly recommend them!

#10 Petsense

They are located in Hampton Cove and have a good selection of pet supplies. They do not sell too many live animals but occasionally will sell some small reptiles such as lizards. Their prices are competitive and offer pet grooming service. Although they are last on my list, do not let this deter you as they are a great pet store and very convenient to those who live in the Hampton Cove area.
