Kate Lahti, a pickleball ambassador in Huntsville, shared in an interview that the sport experienced “a massive surge in the city during the pandemic.” According to her, “residents are making a conscious effort to prioritize their health, and pickleball has become a popular means to achieve that goal, particularly among seniors.”

She further mentioned that the demand for courts is incredibly high. Despite the limited availability of courts or indoor playtime, the community makes an effort to schedule outdoor games, working around the weather to ensure that enthusiasts can still enjoy the sport.

The Huntsville Pickleball Club plays a significant role in promoting the sport in the city. With a strong community of more than 700 members, the club fosters a welcoming environment for pickleball enthusiasts of all skill levels. In addition to providing a space for players to come together and enjoy the game, the club offers free lessons to encourage more individuals to try pickleball and experience its benefits.
